Family Fun day

We spent the day at Dinosaur Valley State Park with our very dear friends. We had discussed camping together but I decided that Abby was still too little. A day trip was perfect. We have been trying to incorporate more family activities into our weeks. This one was wonderful! The weather was PERFECT. The company fabulous and the scenery beautiful. The little kids were so very entertaining telling us crazy things and the big kids had a blast exploring. We are all really tired and a little sun burnt and will go to bed early.

Ayla and her friends spent nearly two hours hopping rocks and wading and getting soaking wet. I brought dry clothes for the boys but not Ayla so she had to air dry and was a little chilled for a bit. She is really brave though and had so much fun exploring. The boys were fascinated and I'm so glad my children love to be in nature. Jared and Ayla worked a little in their nature journals and we looked for birds and butterflies and plants that we could identify.

My new favorite baby packing device. I've had this sling since Ayla was born and it has definitly come in handy but I've never carried a baby on my back like this. It was great to have my hands free to hold Wesley's hand and navigate the rocks. I bought some Target Crocs and had no trouble walking on the rocks. My shoes were great for wading and not slipping. Wesley ended up pooping in his pants (we are on day three of no diapers) which ended up being major drama to get him back to the campsite but it worked out ok. It was intoxicating to be outdoors. We are already planning our next camping trip to go back. Hopefully next month and then again in May and June before it gets super duper hot.

Yeah! You got to go camping! Sound like you got some of the fresh air you need. Hope one of those next trips is with us!

YAY for no camping with a baby (smart to not put yourself through it. We, weren't so smart - twice!)

YAY for air drying!

And YAY for the Dino Park - thanks for the idea!
